Team Lead Youth Worker
8 hours per week £35,360 pro rata

At PZN Youth CIC we are looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Youth Worker to join our thriving Youth Team in Penzance. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in youth work with good skills and abilities in leadership and safeguarding.
About the Role
As Lead Youth Worker, you will:
- Take a key role in leading and delivering professional, creative, and engaging youth work sessions and activities for young people aged 11–17.
- Oversee session planning, delivery and evaluation, ensuring activities meet PZN Youth’s values and safeguarding standards.
- Take responsibility for safeguarding practice across sessions, adhering to PZN Youth safeguarding protocols and supporting staff to follow safe working procedures.
- Deliver staff induction and training, and help to develop sessional workers’ skills and confidence.
- Be responsible for writing incident, accident and safeguarding reports and completing end of session reports for each youth session
- Coordinate and oversee weekly food provision and menus for youth sessions, ensuring healthy, balanced options are provided.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive team culture that celebrates young people’s voices and achievements.
Requirements
- Must be over 21 years old (due to the age of participants).
- Experience in community work and an awareness of issues facing communities and young people
- Significant experience working with children or young people, ideally in a youth work, mentoring or education setting.
- Relevant youth work qualification (Level 3 or above) or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience and understanding of safeguarding and willingness to hold or complete a Level 3 Safeguarding qualification.
- Confidence to deliver high standards of first aid, with relevant first aid experience and having a valid first aid certificate or willingness to complete a first aid course.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support and guide others.
- Confidence in managing behaviour, building trust, and empowering young people to make positive choices.
- Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage time, resources and session logistics (including food and materials).
- All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check (or be registered with the DBS Update Service).
Key Details
We are looking for 2 lead youth workers to each work 8 hours per week
Hours:
- Group session Tuesdays 3- 9pm
Or
- Group session Thursdays 10am-3pm
- The remaining hours will be made up of 1:1 mentoring, training and supervision
- The schedule is subject to change in the holidays so some flexibility is required.
- Type: Fixed term : 6 months including 3 month probation ( potential to extend )
- Part Time hours: 8 ( 0.2 FTE)
- Pay: £35,360 (pro rata)

Youth Worker

Do you have significant experience and/or qualifications in working with children or young people and are able to work in a flexible, creative way?

At PZN Youth we are seeking to recruit one or two youth workers to deliver professional, creative and engaging youth work sessions and activities for 11- 17 year olds. Due to the age of the young people we work with, applicants must be over 21 years old.
About the Role:
- The role would include working on Friday evenings at our youth club in Penzance, as well as Tues evenings and Thursday daytime, with the potential of other work during the daytime or after school as well as different youth sessions and trips during the school holidays.
- PZN Youth CIC is committed to high standards of safeguarding and all successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or be signed up to the DBS update service and will be expected to have or complete a level 3 Safeguarding qualification.
- New staff will be provided with a training induction into the organisation and be supported to understand and adhere to the policies and protocols used within PZN Youth.
- Potential opportunity to train as a youth worker ( level 2 and 3 ) 1 day per month in Truro

This Role Involves :
- Being able to work minimum of 2 x Friday evenings from 4.30pm-9.30pm per month
- Having relevant youth work or mentoring experience & qualifications, or relevant life experience, or transferrable professional skills
- An understanding of youth development and issues affecting young people age 11-19
- A patient, adaptable and empathetic approach to supporting young people
- Good teamwork and communication skills including listening.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Confidence to build and develop positive and professional relationships with the young people we support, valuing their voice and advocating on their behalf when necessary.
- Appropriately responding to, and managing challenging behaviours
- Being a positive role model, empowering young people to problem solve, overcome challenges and celebrate their achievements.
- Being responsible for the effective safeguarding of the young people within our care, identifying risk and following PZN Youth policy & protocols to guide good practice and to raise concerns.
- Attending team meetings, supervisions and training sessions as and when required.
Key Details
We are looking for 2 youth workers to each work 8 hours per week or one person to work 16 hours per week
Hours:
- Friday evenings 4.30-9pm
- Group session Tuesdays 4.30- 8.30pm
- Group session Thursdays 10am-2.30pm
- Plus training, supervision and housekeeping at our centre
- The schedule is subject to change in the holidays where we run trips and activities and the timings will change, so some flexibility is required.
- Type: Fixed term : 12 months including 3 month probation ( potential to extend )
- Part Time hours: 8 ( 0.2 FTE) or 16 hours ( 0.4 FTE)
- Pay: £29,120 (pro rata)

Finance and Operations Manager
16 hours per week £35,360 ( mostly remote)
Job description & key responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as finance and operations manager to support the growth of our organisation. Reporting directly to the Directors, the Finance and Operations Manager will be responsible for financial and operational functions within the organisation. The role includes the development of our existing financial systems which will ensure we are prepared for the next phase of growth. The role also includes managing the transition from CIC to CIO.
Key responsibilities
- Financial Planning: Develop and manage budget, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Reporting and Analysis: Produce accurate and timely financial reports for Directors and other stakeholders. Interpret financial data to provide insights and advise on strategies.
- Fundraising support: Provide financial input for funding applications
- Financial Operations: Set up and manage internal payroll. Oversee other financial activities, including day to day bookkeeping
- Risk and Compliance: Ensure the organisation complies with financial regulations and conduct financial risk management.
- Strategic Guidance: Provide data-driven advice on spending to help the organisation achieve long term sustainability
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to financial procedures, and systems to increase efficiency and transparency.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with CIC regulations, HMRC, and Companies House requirements.
- Transition from CIC to CIO: Manage the logistics of the transition from a CIC (Community Interest Company) registered with companies house to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) registered with the Charity Commission and ensuring associated compliance.
Required skills and qualifications
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficiency in financial software
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving:
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data.
- A keen attention to detail and an ability to identify and solve financial issues.
- Leadership and Communication:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain financial information to non-finance professionals.
- Able to work upon own initiative and manage tasks appropriately
- Qualifications and experience :
- Professional certification such as AAT, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA level 3+
- Extensive experience in finance or accounting
- Experience working in the charity sector
The job is 16 hours per week working from home with monthly in person meetings in West Cornwall. Salary £35,360 pro rata
